News Summary

North Korea strongly condemned the Trump administration’s $175 billion Golden Dome missile defense plan, calling it a dangerous push toward an outer space nuclear war scenario.

The regime criticized the initiative as a tool for U.S. military domination, accusing Washington of attempting to subjugate its allies through a global missile defense network.

North Korea warned that such moves destabilize global security and asserted that true safety lies in achieving power parity.

Commentary

North Korea’s sharp reaction to the U.S. Golden Dome missile defense initiative is yet another example of how deeply threatened the Kim regime feels by American military capabilities.

In Kim Jong Un’s psyche, the United States remains the only existential threat capable of toppling his regime. He is not afraid of South Korea at all, because he knows with absolute certainty that the South would never attempt to attack or invade the North—largely due to its deep internal ideological divisions, which significantly restrain its military posture toward Pyongyang.

This is precisely why Pyongyang’s long-term strategic objective has been to weaken or dismantle the U.S.-ROK alliance, primarily by leveraging pro-North Korea groups within South Korea to sow division and anti-American sentiment.

In this context, maintaining a robust and unwavering alliance with the United States is not just a matter of diplomacy—it is the cornerstone of South Korea’s national security.

Without the deterrent effect of U.S. forces and the credibility they lend to South Korea’s defense, the South would be dangerously exposed to North Korea’s full spectrum of threats—from missile attacks and cyber warfare to espionage and nuclear coercion.
