News Summary

According to Daily NK, the Kim regime is becoming more worried about the mental state and morale of its soldiers dispatched to Russia.

“Since late December, authorities have been alarmed by reports of deployed soldiers showing extreme fear of death, cultural adjustment difficulties, and signs of ideological instability,” a Pyongyang source recently informed Daily NK.

“As casualties increase, the deployed soldiers are battling psychological distress and adaptation difficulties. Officials worry these factors could lead to soldiers betraying the Workers’ Party and state at any moment,” the source said.

The reports also indicate growing frustration among the Russian military toward North Korean soldiers, which could potentially endanger the military cooperation between the two nations.

Commentary

It is no surprise to learn that North Korean soldiers sent to Russia are experiencing an intense fear of death.

Clearly, these soldiers, many of whom are in their teens and twenties, are unable to cope with the realities they face in the real war, despite the rigorous ideological training they received at home.

As mentioned in the reports, the Kim regime is afraid of the possibility that the dispatched soldiers would betray them at any time, which will likely happen as the war continues.

If that occurs in a collective manner, the Kim regime will face betrayal from its soldiers not only on foreign battlefields but also within its own homeland. That is why the regime has tried so hard to suppress the news about the condition of its dispatched soldiers at home.

Despite the regime's intense censorship, Kim Jong Un will face the reality that his ace card for the regime's breakthrough turns out to be a major threat to his survival.
